News!!!...Dr. Northrup has been elected Member, National Academy of Engineering (NAE.edu) , Bioengineering Section and as a Fellow, American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers (AIMBE.edu), both in 2013.
The ability to detect and identify biological pathogens is a technology and a business that the Northrup Consulting Group knows. We will help businesses of any size, grow in this rapidly growing and expanding field. We help our clients develop and commercialize innovative biotechnological and biomedical instrumentation.
The most important things that M. Allen Northrup, PhD and his team have accomplished in their professional careers, have been to make a positive impact on people's lives by building technologies that solve problems. This has ultimately benefited mankind and the environment. He has been fortunate to have founded and helped build two companies, but even more meaningful, was the chance to work with series of wonderful and brilliant people.
Technologically, Dr. Northrup initiated, co-invented and helped develop instruments that are currently being used worldwide for critical medial diagnostics such as Tuberculosis, Sepsis, etc. Along the way he helped develop and deliver bio-analytical systems for various Government agencies and commercial companies in the US and the UK. Cepheid for example, has grown substantially since its inception and has a World Health Organization (WHO) approved Tuberculosis assay on the instruments that he co-invented and developed. Along the way, Dr. Northrup and his team built and delivered several versions of products, such as a MIL Spec hardened and battery-operated version for the U.S. Department of Defense and other organizations. In fact, the basis of the USPO Biological Detection System are the Cepheid "GeneXpert system modules," which have analyzed many millions of pieces of mail for Anthrax over the past 10 years.
